The organizers could not have been more proud of the first annual Sunshine Coast Yoga Festival. The schedule included a wide variety of yoga classes and styles, led by inspiring teachers from the Coast and beyond. Meditation sessions, guided hikes at Hidden Grove, educational speakers, and SUP Yoga on the water were all a part of the day. There was an abundance of healthy food from Wheatberries and the Skookum ‘Chuck Wagon, a henna tattoo artist, a Savasana resting space, and intuitive readings. The sun was shining and Porpoise Bay Park was bubbling with energy and nourished, blissed-out bodies with big smiles. The festival welcomed visitors to the Coast who came up for the event and many who were new to yoga. The most rewarding experience for the organizing group was to see local teachers, studios, and students gathering to celebrate the beauty of our home, the Sunshine Coast, and the practice of yoga. Festival organizers are back this year and invite everyone to join them on September 12—tickets on sale April 1—and share an even richer experience with yogis of all levels.
