After twenty-six years under founders Darren and Kim Rennie, Dreamland Sleep Shop entered a new chapter this April when Deborah and Scott Harrison-Lovitt purchased the business. The transition ensures the Sunshine Coast will continue to have a locally owned and operated sleep shop offering the value, selection and customer care for which Dreamland is known.
Deborah and Scott are committed to providing the Coast with quality mattresses, sleep products and friendly, knowledgeable service. They believe that good sleep supports good health, so product quality matters. Dreamland offers Canadian-made mattresses as well as options featuring organic and natural materials, low-odour construction and reduced off-gassing. Because everyone’s sleep needs are different, the goal is to help each customer find products that provide lasting comfort and support.
Since taking ownership, Deborah and Scott have immersed themselves in the business. They have met suppliers, visited factories in the Lower Mainland, studied the products and, most importantly, spent time helping customers in the store. They want to be active, hands-on owners—not people who simply sit behind a screen.
Although they came to Dreamland from different professional backgrounds, the experience has deepened their understanding of mattresses, linens, pillows, breathability, natural materials and evolving sleep technology. It has also changed how they sleep at home. “I never realized how good it is to slip into a bed with a great set of sheets,” Deborah says. After choosing a new mattress, pillows suited to their individual sleep styles and soft, breathable sheets, she describes bedtime as “truly luxurious—like sleeping on a cloud.”
Deborah and Scott intend to build on Dreamland’s reputation for quality and service while strengthening its connection to the community they call home. Deborah has enjoyed getting to know customers and neighbours, while Scott is delighted to return to an area he has known since childhood, when his family had a cabin on Gambier Island and regularly came through Gibsons.
Owning a business is hard work, they agree, and a good night’s sleep certainly helps. Visit Dreamland Sleep Shop to meet Deborah and Scott and discover mattresses, pillows, linens and other sleep products selected to suit your comfort and needs.
