The late start to summer strolling season and supply chain issues made parts of 2022 a little rocky for many businesses in downtown Sechelt. A recent collaboration between Moorestock Outfitters, SunCoast Wellness, Om My Goodness, and Paige Lorraine Photography shows how local businesses really can support each other through the challenges. (And have a great time doing it.)

A recent photo shoot during our amazing, lingering, summer-like October illustrated the synergy produced when like-minded women work together in an idyllic location. Showcasing the rugged beauty and 5-star comforts of Pointhouse Suites in Sargeant Bay, Moorestock owner Jess Hemingway teamed up with Laurel Lightbourn of SunCoast Wellness and Om My Goodness to create a storyline of a perfect “girls’ wellness weekend.” Working with photographer Paige Dunn of Paige Lorraine Photography and using the Moorestock team as models, the shoot focused on wellness activities like yoga, cooking class, and the work of massage therapists. The results were elevating and beautiful and “restorative,” just like the perfect women’s retreat. Hemingway notes that a particularly satisfying aspect was, “we loved the element of women in business creating together.”

The light and the weather made outdoor and seaside time a pleasure. And the team enjoyed playing tourists, visiting locations that locals don’t often visit, and seeing our area with fresh eyes. Besides setting up yoga and massage (two very popular choices for women visiting the Coast on retreat), the team enjoyed learning some new recipes in a beautiful location:

“Laurel gave a demo on how to prepare her ‘Egg-citing Wrap’ and her ‘Goddess Bowl’—both are vegan and sold at the Hooraw Vegan Market on Wharf Street.”

The Sunshine Coast is ideally located for retreats, and offers a perfect mix of pampering, wellness, and outdoor activities.
